LOVE REMAINS by Zrinka Jelic (R)

I knew, without a doubt, that I was going to be reviewing books on this blog, and here is my first one.  What a good book to start with...

BOOK DESCRIPTION

Olivia Owen, a busy, single, high-functioning, corporate executive officer, is not afraid to die a spinster for the sake of her career. But in an alternate reality world, bridged by the angel of her Down’s syndrome sister, she meets Tom Medar, a dedicated, Croatian defense attorney who dreams of the right woman, but never has time to find her. Together they foil an adulterous murder plot while discovering there’s room for love and family in their busy lives—but not before they are separated again.

When they awaken from their alternate world, will they be able to cross countries to find each other again?

MY REVIEW
4 out of 5 *Stars*

Where do I even begin?  The concept reminded me so much of one of my favorite holiday movies, “The Family Man”, but with a different twist.  I loved the characters, before, during, and after the alternate lives.  The author portrayed the main character, Olivia, perfectly in each scenario; the strong business type first, all the way to the doting mother of two.  I loved Tom.  He was the perfect husband, wrapped up in the words on a page.  Plus, who can forget those kids!  Being a mom, I understood everything that she was going through, and it was great to read a book that I could relate to.
The book had me up until the angel came into the picture.   She gave me the creeps, and I was waiting for a twist that said she was an evil entity.  The storyline of course was predictable, but still had me holding my breath because of how the story was told.  It had so much emotion that I could feel everything along with the characters.  Except the end that could have been monumental felt like it fizzled out, and I was left feeling like the story wasn’t quite finished.  Other than that, I loved the storyline, and all the characters.  It was one of those feel good stories that you want to read if you are in need of a smile.  I definitely recommend this easy and heart felt read.

I want to thank the author and the “Lovers of Paranormal” Goodreads group for gifting me this book in exchange for an honest review.
